Our Skinny Lager, our Skinny IPA and our Skinny Fruit Cider all have 27 kCal per 100ml = 89 calories per 330ml bottle/can
Q: Why is Skinny Lager called ‘Skinny’?
Skinny Lager is called ‘Skinny’ because it has 35% fewer calories than other premium lagers. That’s just 89 calories per 330ml bottle or can.
This is because the residual carbohydrates (and not the alcohol) are removed during the
brewing process so that there are only 0.9g per 100ml (0.9%) which is 3g per 30ml bottle or can. This is on average 72% fewer carbs than other premium lagers.

Q: Why is Skinny Fruit Cider called ‘Skinny’?
Skinny Fruit Cider is called ‘Skinny’ because it has 50% fewer calories than other fruit ciders. That’s only 89 calories per 330ml bottle and Zero sugar.
Q: Is Skinny low alcohol?
Skinny Lager, Skinny IPA and Skinny Fruit Cider are all 4.0% ABV and are therefore NOT a reduced, low or no alcohol beer or cider.
Alcohol contains calories and therefore one of the easiest ways to reduce the calories is to reduce the alcohol content. Instead, the calorie reduction in Skinny Lager and Skinny IPA comes from the reduction in carbohydrates at 72% fewer for the Lager and 78% fewer for the IPA and the calorie reduction in our Skinny Fruit Cider comes from the 100% reduction in the sugar content i.e. Zero Sugar.
Q: What makes Skinny Lager and Skinny IPA vegan certified?
In order to filter the beer and keep it clear most beers utilise animal by-products in their finings such as isinglass or gelatine.
Instead, we use other Vegan Friendly filtration methods to maintain the clarity of our liquid. Therefore Skinny Lager and Skinny IPA are ‘Certified Vegan Friendly’ by the Vegan Society.
Our Vegan Society certificate licence number is 023719.
Q: What makes Skinny Fruit Cider vegan certified?
Some ciders and fruit ciders have fining agents added such as chitosans or enzymes. These make the final product non-vegan. Some ciders have also been known to use cochineal to dye their products.
Skinny Fruit Cider does not have any such additives and is therefore ‘Certified Vegan Friendly’ by the Vegan Society.
Our Vegan Society certificate licence number is 023719.
Q: What makes Skinny Beer kosher certified?
Skinny Lager and Skinny IPA are ‘Certified Kosher’ by the KLBD.
KLBD, also known as the Kashrut Division of the London Beth Din, is a leading global kosher certification agency. They ensure that all our ingredients and production methods are Kosher Certified including the intercession of a rabbi.

Allergens
Q: What makes Skinny Beers gluten free?
Skinny Lager and Skinny IPA are ‘Coeliac Society Certified Gluten Free’. This means that we meet the strict range of criteria as set out and closely monitored by the Coeliac Society to ensure that we are gluten free, both in terms of our ingredients and our production process.
This criteria includes testing for gluten using a UKAS accredited laboratory which we do for EVERY batch. Also, our production facilities must meet the requirements of the AOECS Standard for Gluten Free Foods.
Our Coeliac Society certificate licence numbers are Europe GB 093 001 / GB 093 002 & Global CUK G 134.
In 2020 we were shortlisted for the Best Gluten Free Beer at the UK Free From Awards.
Q: How is Skinny Lager and Skinny IPA gluten free if they contain barley?
There are two different production methods that qualify a product as ‘Gluten Free’. Either no gluten is used at all during the production process, or the gluten can be removed to a value <20ppm.
Skinny is gluten removed to a value of <10ppm (lower than the 20ppm threshold). We do this by exposing the beer to filtering enzymes during fermentation which remove the gluten at the end of the brewing process.
By being gluten removed, we can still use traditional brewing methods, and this includes using malted barley (a gluten). This is important because by doing so we ensure that we are a full flavour premium beer.
Q: Does Skinny Beer contain yeast?
Skinny Lager and Skinny IPA are brewed using conventional methods. Therefore, we do use yeast as this is part of the process to convert sugars into alcohol.
However, like other beers we use very fine filters to remove the yeast at the end of the brewing process.
Q: Can I drink Skinny Beers if I have gout? Are Skinny Beers purine free?
Purine is found in many beers due to the yeast and purine is known to raise uric acid levels and therefore cause gout.
We do use yeast in our Skinny Lager and Skinny IPA because we brew properly to ensure that we do not compromise on taste – therefore it is possible/likely that they contain purine. However, the yeast is filtered away during the brewing process, so it is possible that Skinny Lager and Skinny IPA are low in purine.
The problem however is that we simply do not know because so far we have been unable to find a way to test for purine in the UK. We therefore do not know if Skinny Lager or Skinny IPA is purine free or low in purine and would welcome any feedback to help us to test them.
